Simclar Plant - Irvine, Scotland

	Since designation as a New Town, the number of companies in the town has multiplied by several fold and with local and national companies being located in Irvine. Among the better known are Caledonian Paper Plc and Smith Klein Beecham. The town has also won a reputation as an electronics growth point with companies such as SCI UK, Universal Scientific Instruments, Prestwick Circuits, Electroconnect Limited and Seagate Distribution (UK) Limited locating in Irvine.
The business park extends to about 183 hectares (450 acres) in total and, as such, is one of the largest developments of its kind in the UK. There is currently some 20,500 sq m (220,500 sq ft) already developed. The building forms a single storey warehouse/production facility with an attached two storey building containing office and ancillary accommodation. It was completed in September 2000 and sits on a prominent site of around 7.2 hectares (17.8 acres). There are three separate site entrances into the scheme.
